Get to know Nueco: Tom Gibbons

Tom first started as a Quantity surveyor for Henry Boot Construction after graduating in the field at Leeds university. Tom quickly progressed at Henry Boot with a succession of promotions leading to managing teams and working with senior and executive members of the company. Fast forward to the present day and Tom has over 10+ years industry experience, working on many large-scale heritage projects and large town centre developments. Uniquely, Tom's career path means that he has had the opportunity to work on both sides of the procurement fence, of which the majority has been spent as a main contractor.

Nueco specialism in the window and facade trade was borne out of Tom's experiences working with and for, each of our key partners for the past 4 years, learning the intricate detail that comes with each specialism. Nueco have now built a team and supply chain network that is unrivalled.

Tom set up Nueco in 2019 as he believed there was a better way to provide services to main contractors when they deal with specialists subcontractors in isolation.

"By combining our network and team we are able to provide a better service, make the procurement financially efficient to our clients and let our specialist manufacturers be specialist manufacturers without the worry of dealing front face in a notoriously complex and hostile contracting world." Tom Gibbons

Tom's ambitions for Nueco are coming to fruition as evidenced by the recognition Nueco received in 2021. Firstly by being presented with the SME Best New Business Award and secondly, by receiving personal accolades as Tom was presented with the Start-Up Director of the Year award at the Institute of Directors awards 2021. Nueco has started 2022 as it finished 2021, with an ever-growing order book featuring high profile London locations such as Liverpool Street and working on tendering some of the most high profile hotels. The constant desire for continued development of our team and business infrastructure, including software updates and continual training is allowing Nueco to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing, modern-day construction industry.

"The IoD award was an amazing moment for me; starting Nueco in the midst of a pandemic, a lot of hard-work was put into building the company when a lot could have gone wrong. But SME award was something that really made me proud, it was recognition for the team. It is the commitment and desire they give that makes us special." Tom Gibbons
