Last week, we spent the day interviewing candidates for a six-month placement in collaboration with VolkerFitzpatrick and Tower Hamlets council. The scheme will focus on the completion of our new flagship project on Lamb Street in London with the main contractor VolkerFitzpatrick. At Nueco, we recognise the need to employ local talent and the pivotal role we play in the growth and development of that talent.
Tower Hamlets is statistically the most deprived borough of London so anything we can do to help the community will provide us with an immense sense of pride. Given the already existing industry struggles, it is essential to identify and prioritise the potential labour force that is paramount for the continued growth Nueco and the construction industry.
The successful candidate, Deniz had a wealth of prior experience from his days working in construction in Cyprus as well as more recently in the UK. Deniz also has an architecture degree and experience working in design with CAD so comes with a high level of all round knowledge. As well as the on-going training we will provide Deniz on-site, Nueco, VolkerFitzpatrick and Tower Hamlets council are committed to organising English lessons to allow Deniz to not only develop tangible construction skills, but also communication skills essential for his growth and development as he progresses with his career in construction in the UK.
Keep an eye out for regular updates on Deniz’s progression throughout his six-month placement. We hope that the scheme will inspire others to join the ever-changing roles in an ever-evolving industry and will inspire other construction firms to take a chance on local talent.
